Record Number of NFTS Graduates Nominated For BAFTA Television And BAFTA TV Craft Awards

This week the nominations for the BAFTA Television Awards and the BAFTA Television Craft Awards were announced and the National Film and Television School is proud to see a record number of graduates named across the categories including Limited Drama, Single Documentary, Director: Fiction, Original Music: Fiction and Photography: Factual.

 

BAFTA TV Awards Nominations

 

Two directing graduates were nominated in the Limited Drama category; Toby Haynes for Black Mirror episode Demon 79 and Lewis Arnold for The Long Shadow. In Single Documentary, director Jasleen Sethi and editor David Thompson were nominated for Ellie Simmonds: Finding My Secret Family and in Specialist Factual, editor Ross Leppard was named for his work on White Nanny, Black Child. In the Craft Award nominations, Lewis Arnold picked up a second nomination, this time in the Director: Fiction category.

 

BAFTA TV Craft Nominations

 

Two editing graduates were named in the Editing: Fiction category; Alex Mackie for his work on Time and Zsófia Tálas for Slow Horses. Two graduates were also nominated in the Emerging Talent categories; Ben Cheetham (Pete Doherty, Who Killed My Son?) for Factual and Haolu Wang (Bodies) for Fiction. Once again doubling up in a category, both Adiescar Chase and Natalie Holt were nominated for Music: Fiction for Heartstopper and Loki respectively.

Other NFTS alumni nominations include Jean-Louis Schuller in Photography: Factual for The Man Who Played With Fire, Stephan Pehrsson in Photography and Lighting: Fiction for Demon 79 and Stuart Hilliker and Martin Jensen for their work on The Crown.

The BAFTA Television Awards, hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, will take place on Sunday 12 May. The BAFTA Television Craft Awards take place on Sunday 28 April.
