Including practical tips, industry guidance and even emotional coping mechanisms for overcoming the dreaded ‘blank page’, this 2-hour masterclass covers all things gag-writing.

 

Focused around writing jokes and one-liners for TV panel shows - as well as touching upon radio, stand-up and beyond - this course explores the DOs and DON’Ts of professional gag-writing, with hints, tricks and real-world advice for anybody keen to develop their joke-writing skills. Within the 2 hours, there will also be practical tasks and seminar discussion, giving you a chance to both hone your craft and quiz experienced gag-writers on the ways of the comedy world.

 

Course tutors Ed Amsden & Tom Coles have written on sketch and panel shows including Dead Ringers, Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, in addition to having multiple television sitcom scripts optioned by production companies including Big Talk, Avalon and Hat Trick.
