This year, there are an incredible 27 credits for NFTS alumni on films selected for the prestigious 2018 Cannes Film Festival. The festival which is celebrating its 71st anniversary this year and takes place from 8-19th May 2018.

Hotly anticipated blockbuster from the Lucas film franchise Solo: A Star Wars Story, is to premiere at the festival and credits no fewer than 13 NFTS alumni. The standalone origin story of young Han Solo is directed by Ron Howard and stars Alden Ehrenreich as Solo with Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.

NFTS Stop-Frame graduation animation Inanimate; directed by Lucia Bulgheroni and produced by Lennard Ortmann (see full credits below), is to have its world premiere screening at the Cannes Film Festival in the Cinéfondation category where it is one of only 17 entries selected from 2,426 entries submitted by film schools from all over the world. NFTS has now had more selections for its graduation films than any other film school.

Teret – (The Load)

Showing in the independent category ‘Directors’ Fortnight’ is Serbian political thriller Teret (The Load), which credits NFTS alumnus, Nikola Medic as Sound Effects Editor. Teret is the story of a truck driver tasked with transporting a mysterious load from Kosovo to Belgrade during the NATO bombing of Serbia in the 90’s.

Lazzaro Felice (Happy as Lazzaro)

NFTS Creative Business for Entrepreneurs and Executives MA graduate Carlo Cresto-Dina  is credited as Producer on Italian Drama, Lazzaro Felice (Happy as Lazzaro); a story of a young peasant who is asked by a nobleman to help him orchestrate his own kidnapping, leading to a loyal friendship so precious that it will involve travelling through time.
