The National Film and Television School (NFTS) announces that All3Media, one of the UK’s leading independent television, film production and global distribution companies, is to strengthen its partnership with the School by providing three new scholarships for students from a BAME background on the two-week ‘Writing the TV Pilot’ course at NFTS and NFTS Scotland.
All3Media will continue to provide a scholarship for a student from a BAME background for the ‘TV Drama – Creating the Bible’ certificate course.
‘Writing the TV Pilot’ creates the reality of a writers’ room where ten students write and complete a pilot episode of a drama series in just two weeks. The course will run at NFTS Scotland in June 2019, and at the NFTS in October 2019.
‘TV Drama – Creating The Bible’ runs for eight-weeks and equips writers and producers with the skills required to write and complete a full bible and pilot episode for a high-end TV drama series that has the potential of running over several seasons. The course will run at Beaconsfield in April 2019.
As part of the partnership, All3Media will get first refusal on all scripts produced by students on both courses.
The courses are led by NFTS Head of Short Courses, Peter Ansorge who was previously Head of Drama at Channel 4 where he commissioned the BAFTA award-winning drama series A Very British Coup, The Politician’s Wife, GBH, and Traffik on which the Oscar-winning film Traffic is based.
Peter Ansorge said: ‘We are delighted that All3Media is providing scholarships for these two courses. It’s been enthralling to have leading producers and Heads of Development at All3Media, from companies like Neal Street Productions, Lime Pictures and Company Pictures, coming to advise and encourage our course participants. As a result, writers have found agents, producers and companies interested in developing their work.’
Alison Goring, Head NFTS Scotland said: ‘We are absolutely delighted that All3Media is supporting students in Scotland by partnering with us on our ‘Writing the TV Pilot course’. Connecting with industry is a vital element of the training we offer and having All3Media on board for this course is the perfect pairing to support the professional development of writing talent in Scotland.’
Sara Geater, All3Media COO: ‘At All3Media we are committed to nurturing new talent. The NFTS has an incredibly impressive track record in producing the stars of the future so we are extremely pleased to be moving our partnership forward. We are committed to increasing diversity amongst the creators and producers of our content, which is why we are announcing three new scholarships for students from a BAME background for the ‘Writing the TV Pilot’ short course. Both ‘Writing the TV Pilot’ and TV Drama – Creating the Bible’ courses are increasingly recognised as a great source of new writing talent within the industry at a time when TV drama is booming.’
