Many DFX students secure full time work within television and film ahead of graduating

The global buzz around the recent Oscar and BAFTA 2020 nominations has generated some very exciting news for the NFTS Digital Effects (DFX) course! Across all five films nominated in the Visual Effects category at both awards (1917, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Lion King and The Irishman), each movie’s VFX department features NFTS graduates, with the majority of those students emerging from our unique DFX MA which has been running for 14 years.  

With countless possible career paths open across multiple industries, the NFTS DFX course has a high employment rate, with many students securing full time work within television and film ahead of graduating. Five DFX students currently studying at the NFTS have already lined up confirmed employment with leading companies such as Company 3, Framestore and One of Us.

The NFTS full time DFX MA course gives students extensive, practical training on real sets, in a visual effects (VFX) and animation studio, and in cutting-edge grading and finishing suites.

Our DFX students are taught essential 2D and 3D VFX and SFX techniques and will go on to specialise in either compositing, colour or CG 3D. They work with the latest available software and camera technology and are taught by leading current industry artists, technicians and supervisors.

Other DFX graduate credits on big budget films and television series include Captain Marvel, Aladdin, Hobbs and Shaw, Horrible Histories, The Jungle Book, Ready Player One, Doctor Who, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Harry Potter and countless others.

DFX Graduate Adam Arnot who now works as a leading Compositor and has worked on Wonder Woman 1984, Avengers: Endgame and Ready Player One said: 'The collaboration, discipline and professionalism you hone whilst at the NFTS is as close as you can get to the industry.'

Head of Department John Rowe comments: ‘It is amazing to see the beautiful work that our DFX graduates produce.
