7 June 2021: The biggest night in the British TV calendar saw four NFTS graduates receive awards for their outstanding work at the 2021 Virgin Media BAFTA Television Awards on Sunday evening!

Editing graduate and RTS Craft winner Simon Sykes won in the Factual Series category for his work on the BBC Two TV Mini-series Once Upon A Time in Iraq.

Fiona Lamptey, 2019 Screen Star of Tomorrow, Netflix Director of UK features and 2018 NFTS Script Development graduate won in the Single Drama category for Sky Arts Sitting in Limbo which she co-produced. Sitting in Limbo also had NFTS Sound Recording graduate Sara Lima working as Production Sound Mixer. Sara was awarded the 2020 BIFA for Best Sound for her work on The Reason I Jump back in February.

Directing Documentary graduate Jackie Waldock was awarded in the Reality and Constructed Factual category alongside the production team for The School That Tried to End Racism. The Channel 4 series also had RTS award winner and NFTS Sound Post Production graduate Nainita Desai working as Composer.

Last on the list but by no means least, now three-time BAFTA TV award winner and NFTS Directing Documentary graduate James Newton was awarded in the Specialist Factual category for his work on the BBC Studios and Netflix documentary The Surgeon’s Cut.
