Just a few short years since graduating from the NFTS, graduates Nick Rowland and Joe Murtagh enjoyed a virtual homecoming during a Masterclass hosted by NFTS Director Jon Wardle to celebrate the release of their stunning debut feature film, Calm with Horses.
Over five years in the making, Calm with Horses, directed by Nick and with screenplay written by Joe, is the powerful story of Irish ex-boxer Arm (played by Cosmo Jarvis) torn between the family of drug dealers who are manipulating him, and a better life with his autistic son.
For the first time since our Masterclasses became virtual, the NFTS has made this exclusive Q&A with Nick and Joe available for all to watch. (Our thanks to Altitude Films)
After premiering in Dublin on 5th March, Calm with Horses was generating a huge buzz both critically and commercially, with the film set for release into cinemas across the UK just as they were closing their doors due to coronavirus. It was expedited to a digital release from 27th April and is available to stream now on digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Curzon Home Cinema, BFI Player, Volta and via calmwithhorses.com
Watch Nick and Joe talk about genesis of Calm with Horses, the pivot to an online release and what they miss most about the NFTS!
