Short course

Overview

This 5 day course (over 5 weeks) will develop your skills and confidence in editing factual content through practice and feedback in a supported learning environment.

As well as editing practice, you will be introduced to a range of UK television factual, critically review content and apply what they learn to your own practice.

You will examine the culture of the factual cutting room and be introduced to the strategies required to build a sustainable career as an editor within the current TV industry.

This course is led by Therese Lynch, an Avid editor with many years’ staff and freelance experience, specialising in storytelling and structure. Her experience crosses genres including long-form factual, magazine/formatted factual, children's TV (CBBC and Cbeebies), current affairs, entertainment, music, drama and news.

4th, 11th, 18th, 25th November and 2nd December 2018

PLUS an evening with employers/industry (Date TBC)

Fees and funding options

Fees for this course are as follows:

Corporate Rate: £1550
Freelance Rate: £815

Bursaries, supported by the Scottish Government, are also available for those who are eligible.

If you wish to apply for a bursary to contribute to the costs of your course, please read the bursary guidelines below carefully to confirm your eligibility. Please do not apply to a course unless you are sure you meet the bursary eligibility criteria or are able to pay for the course.
