Intimacy Directing has emerged to the front of the professional film and theatre scene, particularly in the US and Canada, following the #metoo and #timesup movements. The introduction of an Intimacy Director to a production functions as a way of safeguarding actors, ensuring their emotional and physical comfort and welfare, safeguarding Directors and companies, while also opening up a safe space for creative exploration of sensitive characters and scenes.
This workshop will focus on The Five Pillars of Intimacy:
Outlining how they are applied within the context of a rehearsal or shoot, and the principles of a 'safe' rehearsal and work space practices. This introductory course is aimed at actors, directors and producers and is suitable for anyone looking to manage a rehearsal space.
The workshop is run by Amanda Liz Cutting is an award-winning Director and Artistic Director of the Artists Theatre Collective, based in Calgary, Canada. She has spent a significant spell in the UK, and most recently directed a production of Romeo & Juliet at the Pendley Shakespeare Festival. In 2019, she is coming to the UK, presenting a series of Intimacy Directing workshops and a touring productions of Haunted House Hamlet and Genesis: The Mary Shelley Play.
