Overview

Delivered online in the NFTS Scotland Virtual Classroom accessed by Zoom.

This entry level course is aimed at anyone interested in starting out in Film and TV drama production, specifically in the production office, with no previous experience necessary to join the course.  

The course will give you an overview of:

- The roles and responsibilities in the drama production office
- Who is who on the production team and who does what
- How the production office interacts and works with set-based departments, the paperwork and processes involved
- A typical day in the production office 
- Skills required to work in production

The course is led by Elizabeth Edgar, an experienced Production Supervisor and Coordinator with credits including The Victim, Shetland, T2 Trainspotting and Waterloo Road.

Freelance Rate: £95
Corporate Rate: £190

BURSARY INFORMATION

Bursaries, supported by the Scottish Government, are available for those who are eligible.

As an entry level vocational course, this course is also part of the Channel 2 Bursary Scheme. 

The Channel 2 Bursary Scheme aims to improve access to Scotland’s Film and TV industry by helping people from low-income backgrounds access entry level training with vocational outcomes. The bursary fund is aimed at people who, without financial support, would find it difficult to access training and therefore job opportunities within the sector. 

The Channel 2 Bursary Scheme was created by individuals working within the Film & TV industry, the funds are raised by individual sponsorship from industry practitioners.

If you wish to apply for a bursary to contribute to the costs of your course, please read the bursary guidelines below carefully to confirm your eligibility. Please do not apply to a course unless you are sure you meet the bursary eligibility criteria or are able to pay for the course. 

Once you have submitted your course application, your bursary application should be submitted to scotland@nfts.co.uk.

NFTS Scotland Hardship Fund 

With support from Screen Scotland, a new fund aimed at practitioners who have experienced significant work and financial loss as a direct result of the impact of COVID-19 is available for our online courses from May 2020 onwards.

This fund is available to those who are not able to evidence their eligibility for the NFTS Scotland bursary fund with the required supporting documents, but who now meet the income threshold criteria. 

It is a small, discretionary fund aimed at supporting those most in need. You should only apply if you are a Scottish resident and your finances have been directly affected by loss of work in March 2020 and beyond as a result of COVID-19.

To apply for support, please complete this application form and submit it to scotland@nfts.co.uk at the same time as making your course application.
