Short course

Overview

This one-day course, led by Grant McPhee, is designed to give you a more advanced overview of the DITs skills beyond data management.

You will learn how to control camera data after it has been securely backed-up to maintain a correctly managed colour pipeline, allowing the director and Director of Photography the reassurance that what they see on set is what they will see in the edit suite. This will cover transcoding, metadata, monitor calibration and onset live grading.

The course will cover:

  • An overview of current digital camera formats and codecs
  • How to create a full colour managed workflow document to insurance recognised standards
  • LUT and CDL overview
  • Simple colour correction and transcoding of original camera data to editorial requirements
  • Onset Live Grading: Filter and Exposure management, Metadata; and Monitor Calibration
  • The politics of a film set: who is who, what to do and when to do it
