The Association of Motion Picture Sound Launches NFTS Scholarship

Presents Award to Production Sound Student

The Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) has launched a new scholarship to support a student enrolled on the Production Sound for Film and Television Diploma at the NFTS.

The scholarship was presented to current student, Daniella Smith by Paul Davies, AMPS chairman and Nik Powell, NFTS director.

Clive Derbyshire, AMPS Honorary Treasurer and NFTS Production Sound Tutor was also in attendance.

Paul Davies, AMPS Chairman said: “We are incredibly pleased to be offering this new scholarship dedicated to the NFTS Production Sound Diploma. This course is the only one of its kind to focus entirely on production sound recording and embodies what AMPS is all about. Our objective is to bring lively new blood to the industry and introduce students to the world of professional filmmaking. Daniella is a worthy recipient and we look forward to seeing her progress over the next year.”

Daniella Smith, NFTS Production Sound student and AMPS Scholarship recipient said: “I am extremely grateful to receive support from AMPS. I discovered a love for sound while working as a boom operator and am particularly interested in the technical side. I love everything on the course so far and feel very lucky to be a part of this exciting Diploma!”
