World Leading Film School in Beaconsfield to Open its Doors to Local Residents and Businesses

The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is hosting an open day on Saturday 23rd September from 3pm – 4.30pm for local residents to give them a taste of what it’s like to study at the “world’s best film school”. The School has produced a whole host of world-famous alumni including cinematographer, Roger Deakins (12 times Oscar nominee); BAFTA winning director, David Yates, (best known for directing the Harry Potter films); Oscar winning animator Nick Park (creator of Wallace & Gromit) and BAFTA-winning director, Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin).

Residents are invited for a tour of the new facilities which were recently opened by the Rt Hon Ed Vaizey MP. The facilities are part of a £20 million development of the School comprising a 4K Digital Content Studio, two teaching buildings, a second cinema and supplementary teaching space to accommodate the latest generation of School courses.

The open day will include a short showreel screening and introduction by the School’s new director, Jon Wardle, followed by a tour led by students. There will be displays from Animation, Digital Effects, Production Design and Games Design departments ranging from models and prosthetics to VR.

Jon Wardle, director of the National Film and Television School says: “We are incredibly pleased to invite the local residents of Beaconsfield to come and see our new facilities and meet students. It’s a great opportunity to showcase our world-leading institution, which we’re incredibly proud of, and also thank residents for their patience during the building works. We would love residents to be as proud of the NFTS as we are and would encourage as many to come as possible to see what the School is about.”

Residents are invited to sign up for tour slots between 3pm and 4.30pm with the open day closing at 5pm. The NFTS is situated at Beaconsfield Studios on Station Road and is walking distance from both the old town and the station.
