NFTS Sweeps the Board at 2018 Kodak Student Commercial Awards

NFTS students swept the board once again at this year’s Kodak NAHEMI (National Association for Higher Education in the Moving Image) Student Commercial awards beating off stiff competition from other universities, to win 12 awards including ‘Overall Winner’, ‘Best in Brief’ for all four briefs and the Editing and Cinematography Craft Awards.

Award-winning director, Sara Dunlop (Dreamlands) and Kodak Account Manager, Sam Clarke presented the awards at the ceremony which took place at the Regent Street Cinema in London.  

The students pitched their ideas to a panel of leading industry professionals including Commercials Director Susannah Hayes, Chair of NAHEMI, Professor Suzie Hanna and Charlie Inman from Mother London.

The NFTS commercials, which won the briefs set by leading advertising agencies are as follows:

Sarah the Puppet, directed by NFTS Directing Animation MA student, Ed Bulmer was ‘Overall Winner’ and won ‘Best in Brief’ for Vagaband, a safety wristband for travellers.

Hold Still, directed by NFTS Directing Fiction MA Student, Alexandra Brodski and produced by NFTS Producing MA student, Nikita Leibovici won the ‘Best in Brief’ for Ataxia Awareness and Landmine, directed and produced by NFTS Directing and Producing Television Entertainment MA student, James Watson won ‘Best in Brief’ for Healthy Back Bag.

Commercial Nativity directed by NFTS Cinematography MA student, Alfred Thirolle won ‘Best in Brief’ for the Not On The High Street brief.

Sighvatur Ómar Kristinsson also won 'Best Editing’ for Hands in the Craft Awards, with Bruno Grilo winning ‘Best Cinematography’ for A Nice Surprise.
