This course is being delivered in person at NFTS Leeds.
This course provides a deeper understanding of the practices involved in film and television drama production management.
Participants will learn how to break down a short script which they will schedule, gaining a full understanding of all the elements which go into making up the budget.
The course covers:
- Role, function and responsibilities of a drama production manager
- Breaking down and scheduling a script
- Union agreements
- The principles of budgeting
- Insurance and completion bonds
- Health & Safety
- The unit on location, at home and overseas
- Progress reports
About the Tutor:
Former Head of Production, Addie Orfila has over 22 years’ experience within TV and short film production. Starting as a trainee continuity announcer and then runner at ITV Yorkshire, Addie has worked her way up as 3rd AD, 1st AD, PM and Head of Production. She has worked on all four of the big UK serial dramas and was HoP at Hollyoaks and Production Manager at Coronation Street for very successful tenures. Having worked on shows such as Heartbeat, Touch of Frost, Countdown, My Parents are Aliens, Emmerdale, Barking and Jinx, Addie has a large wealth of experience to draw from, is a mentor for Women in Film and Television, was a member of Channel 4’s Mentoring Diversity Network as well as trainer on the pan-industry Project Diamond Diversity monitoring scheme. When not delivering industry training she is also an Associate Lecturer at the Northern Film School. Addie designed and is currently delivering the Leadership Essentials course nationwide for HETV Drama Heads of Department on behalf of ScreenSkills, worked as a Production Executive for the BBC and works with Lavender Pictures, as a Production Executive, helping develop their slate of content.
