Overview
Designed to provide you with a thorough, rapid and practical introduction to operational editing techniques using AVID. Class time is divided between short illustrated lectures, demonstrations and (lots of) hands-on practice.
The course covers everything you need to know about Avid including:
• System Overview
• Editing Workflow
• Starting a Project
– Creating a new project in the correct format
– Opening/closing and saving projects
• Preparing to edit
• Inputting source material
– Capture/Import from Tape or file based material
• Overview of Editing screens and button functions
• Starting to edit – insert or overwrite
• Trimming sequences
• Adding Audio from external sources plus EQ Tool and Audio Suite Plugins
• Editing and trimming audio
• Adding visual transition effects and motion effects
– Timewarp and conventional motion effect
• Creating titles – with crawl and roll function and visual manipulation
• Outputting programmes to DVD or Tape
• Backing up
• Overview of more complex ‘nesting’ visual transition and segment effects
• Overview of Multi Camera Editing
• Overview of 3D and Surround Sound facilities
One Person Per System
Experience with Avid systems is not necessary. A working background in editing, production or post-production is recommended but not essential
