Sound design is the emotional heartbeat of a film, TV show or game, combining technical skills with a passion for telling stories through sound.
This course provides an introduction to the principles of sound editing and design for film and TV.
Through exercises, you will learn how to layer audio to enhance storytelling and where sound fits in the post-production workflow. You will learn about session management and technical aspects of sound editing, which, reinforced by conceptual thinking, will help you take your project to the next level.
This course will be taught in Pro Tools, so some basic familiarity with the software is preferable. However, those using other editing software with a timeline-based editing for sound and picture can also take part in the course.
This course covers:
- The role of sound in storytelling, breakdown of different sound layers
- Overview of postproduction workflow
- Session Management
- Dialogue Editing
- Sound Effects editing
- Mixing and deliverables for the final projects
