Celebrating Black History Month 2022 at the NFTS

October 2022: The National Film & Television School (NFTS) is excited to once again be celebrating Black History Month!

NFTS Black History Month 2022

During October, our Student Union and the NFTS Black Society will be organising a range of events and resources for our students to get involved with including curated film seasons, excursions and student mixers to celebrate the work, culture and voices of Black film, television and games makers.

The National Film and Television School and the NFTS Black Society will also be hosting the inaugural Black and Asian Alumni Networking Event at the BFI Southbank, something we hope will become an annual date in the NFTS calendar! The event will bring together ethnically diverse graduates who have just entered the industry with those who are already embedded, with the aim of offering empowering advice and guidance to the next generation of our Black and Asian alumni.

Throughout the month we will also be highlighting some of our Black students, graduates and staff by talking to them about their work, their time at the School, the importance of diversity and inclusion at the NFTS and how it impacts the wider film, television and games industries.

We will update this page throughout the month but follow us on social media to get the live feed!

STAY TUNED!

Black history extends far beyond just one month a year, and as one of the world’s top film schools we are very aware of our responsibility to seek out talent from all backgrounds and ensure the School is a welcoming and safe environment for everyone who studies or works with us.
