NFTS Launches Graduate Impact Report 2020 with Lord David Puttnam
With an impassioned speech delivered online by President of the NFTS, Lord David Puttnam, the NFTS launches the findings of its Graduate Impact Report 2020. The report demonstrates the enormous impact NFTS graduates make to the UK Film and Television industries, specifically High-End Television as well as inward investment in UK Film Production and independent British Film.
First established in 1971 and due to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021, the NFTS has evolved to become a leading global institution, developing some of Britain and the world’s top creative talent.
In his online speech, Lord David Puttnam said the NFTS had been at the forefront of making the UK's creative economy such an extraordinary success story, producing graduates who have played an incredible part in the evolution of a vibrant British screen sector. He called for the issue of screen and talent development to be taken seriously, commenting: "We can’t be complacent. We have an extraordinary success story on our hands and it’s up to us to build it. If we are to have a future, we need skills. To have skills, we need investment. To have investment we need to be constantly making our case to why we are a really significant component of the UK economy."
The Graduate Impact Report, prepared by OC&C Strategy Consultants, analyses the exceptional contribution of NFTS graduates as a whole on UK Film and Television production over a five year period* and demonstrates how NFTS graduates quickly take centre stage in an industry critical to the UK economy.
(*Five year period covers 2015-2019)
