Times: 11:00 - 16:00

The National Film & Television School is coming to Dundee. Join us at DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts) on Wednesday 15th May for a day of insight and information all about some of the creative careers behind the camera in Film & TV.

There will be three sessions delivered by industry professionals - some of them NFTS graduates - all with experience of creating & delivering workshops and sessions designed to give you insights into their creative practices and what goes into making the kinds of programmes we all love to watch.

You can choose to attend as many sessions as interest you and ask as many questions as you can think of.

10:30 - 11:30 Documentary Filmmaking & Storytelling with Miranda Stern.

What makes a good story? Is it different for everyone or are there some universal rules? What are those rules when it comes to story/structure/narrative? Is there power in breaking those rules? And how do you even go about making a documentary?

In this session, award-winning documentary filmmaker, Miranda Stern (CLEAN, Best Short at Glasgow Short Film Festival) will look at the power of storytelling in documentaries. She’ll take you through the process of taking your idea and turning it into a finished film and showing us that we can do all this with the readily available tech we already have in our hands and at our disposal.

11:45 - 13:15 The Art of Animation with Ana Songel

Have you ever wondered how an animation gets made? Come along to this introductory session and explore the art of animation. Animator Ana Songel, will walk you through the basics of its illusion of movement and show you different techniques and examples through the inspiring work of talented animators. Lastly, you'll have your own chance to try animating through a fun hands-on workshop

This session is led by award-winning animator and director Ana Songel. Her work explores big feelings told through animated metaphors inspired by her own experiences, surroundings, and nature.

14:15 - 15:45 Sound Design with Ania Przygoda

Sound Design is the emotional heartbeat of a film, TV show or game, combining technical skills with a passion for telling stories through sound. In this session, Sound Designer Ania Przygoda, takes you on a journey into the world of sound design, exploring the essential role it plays and providing insights into the fascinating and often fun work of sound designers and their collaborators.

NFTS Graduate Ania Przygoda is an award winning and highly acclaimed sound designer, sound editor, and dubbing mixer on numerous films, including both shorts and features.
