This one day course is aimed at anyone who is starting out as a freelancer in the screen industry. 



Delivered by Siân Gale, an industry trainer and consultant with her own freelance portfolio, and delivered in a workshop format, this course aims to demystify the term “freelancer” and to provide a range of practical resources and tips to help you get the most out of being a freelancer. 



By the end of the day you should be able to:



•    Identify the different types of employment & business models 

•    Describe the key legal obligations of freelancing 

•    Analyse “allowable business expenses” for freelancers

•    Describe the tax and national insurance obligations of freelancing

•    Identify practical financial business templates

•    Examine what to consider when negotiating terms and conditions with an employer

•    Review top tips & resources

About the tutor: Siân started her career in TV production working across scripted and non scripted programmes including many Bafta Cymru award winning productions.  She has had a portfolio career working in business support, training & development and consultancy.  She is a PGCE qualified educator and passionate about trade unions, equality, diversity and the Welsh language.
