Alan Fairholm is a Northumberland based media consultant, production executive and line producer. He started his career back in 1984 on a YTS Scheme at Tyne Tees Television. In 1990 he joined Zenith North as Assistant Production Accountant on Byker Grove, as the company grew, he quickly moved onto the role of Production Accountant and then across to Production Executive. He was part of the team that changed the face of Saturday Morning Television with SMTV/CDUK, he also worked across the other genres within the company including Factual, Comedy, Drama, Children’s and Animation working on a number of award-winning series.
In 2003 he was appointed as Director of Production overseeing all of the Zenith Entertainment output. Sadly in 2006 the company went into Administration and Alan went back to the shop floor, setting up the Raven India shoot for the BBC followed by the role of Line Producer on the BAFTA winning series The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury which was shot in the North East. In 2009 he was approached by the BBC to set up the production hub that went on to produce the Bafta winning Tracey Beaker Returns along with the follow up The Dumping Ground and Wolfblood.
More recently he was the live action Line Producer on the Sound Collector stop frame pre-school series and in May 2023 he was the production manager for the Northeast segment in the King’s Coronation concert lighting up the bridges on the River Tyne as part of the celebration. More recently he worked as the Senior Production Accountant at Playground Entertainment working across the drama output including the follow up to Wolf Hall for the BBC and the new series of All Creatures Great and Small for Channel 5.
