This part-time, six-month online course from the National Film and Television School, explores the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing and streamlining creative practice in film and television - while critically examining the responsibilities and challenges that come with its use.

Designed for industry professionals and emerging creatives alike, the course combines hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI tools and workflows, with an in-depth look at the legal, ethical and cultural challenges they raise. From copyright and intellectual property to bias, consent and authorship, participants will engage with the real-world questions shaping the future of storytelling.

Whether streamlining production, enhancing post, or opening up new creative possibilities, this course goes beyond technical know-how. It’s about understanding not just how to use AI—but when, why, and with what implications.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand the legal and ethical dimensions of AI in media.
  • Be proficient with a range of current AI tools relevant to film and television.
  • Know how to responsibly and ethically incorporate AI into creative and production workflows.
  • Develop a critically informed professional project using AI.

Delivery Model:

Duration: 6 months (Part-Time)
Schedule: 1 evening per week (online)

  • Small group tutorials for peer discussion and feedback
  • Assignments for each module
  • A final individual project tailored to the participant's professional or creative goals

 

 




 

Funding Available

In partnership with PACT, NFTS we will be offering 2 x 50% scholarships to PACT member organisations with less than 5 full time staff or freelancers. A further bursary will be awarded by Deep Fusion Films.
