“What the NFTS are doing here are pulling down barriers and creating a more level playing field. It is vital and beautiful work and will change our industry for the better.”

We must ensure that geography, disability, or financial background are not obstacles to entering the creative industries. The lack of fully accessible student accommodation at the school and nearby, has posed challenges for individuals with disabilities. As part of the NFTS’s long-term commitment to disabled talent, we have appointed a dedicated disability lead, introduced and new Accessible Living Bursary, and through expansion, will be able to build new fully accessible studios for students to live on-site, meaning they can have the very best experience we can offer.

This transformative initiative will directly support the School’s goal to increase enrolment from disadvantaged and underrepresented groups by 10% by 2028 and ensure that talented individuals with physical disabilities have equal access to world-class education, training, and career pathways in the screen industries.

“It is fantastic that the School is investing in fully accessible on-site rooms as I wasn’t able to find accommodation closer to the School that met my needs. I’m proud to hear about this and know that it will further enhance the experience for many students for years to come.”
