This fully-funded course gives aspiring creators the tools they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world, with YouTube creators offering candid insights into building audiences, innovating formats, and staying resilient on a fast-moving platform.

YouTubers have become the most famous entertainers on the planet. The most successful YouTube channels receive millions of views for every episode they upload, and their videos are constantly improving and evolving.
Behind the scenes are multi-talented creators who create, develop, script, film, edit, analyse data and build their audience. They establish their voice, create their own brand, engage with their audience and keep things fresh. The final product? It’s fast-paced, concise and engaging.
YouTube Producer roles are quickly becoming highly sought-after in our industry. They offer the chance to produce cutting-edge content for huge global audiences in an agile environment, often working hand in hand with global superstars.
In this innovative course, you will understand how YouTube works and which formats work well on the platform. You will develop your idea, work on your brand and think about how to get your channel off the ground. You will plan your production to film and edit your video. And finally, you will learn how to grow your channel by digging into the analytics and finding out who your viewers really are.
Delivered part-time, this 12-month course will consist of five intensive workshops in Beaconsfield. These workshops will be complimented with online sessions over Zoom. Participants will be awarded an NFTS Diploma on successful completion of the programme.
Each module is delivered with a 4 day in-person workshop in Beaconsfield. Complimented with online sessions delivered on Zoom.
Module 1: Understanding YouTube
We begin by jumping into the current YouTube ecosystem – digging into the usage of the unique viewers per week. We’ll explore successful shorts and videos and discover what works well on the platform. You will hear from established YouTubers and have the opportunity to ask how they started, and remained on the platform. We’ll learn how to establish your voice and identify audience niches on YouTube. Plus getting across those all-important policies and guidelines.
Module 2: Getting Your Channel off the Ground
Here’s where you really begin the process. You will develop your idea, making sure that you’re making a format that will resonate with an audience. You will work on your YouTube page – creating a brand, thumbnails and learn the all the mechanics of YouTube Studio. You will start to script your idea and create a strategy.
Module 3: Production Planning
Now the fun starts! You will learn about the best kit, gadgets and gimbals that you can use to shoot your video. You will learn how to effectively plan your video. How to schedule, budget, risk assess, interview, think sustainably and get across copyright. Then you’ll use all of these learnings to get out there to shoot your video!
Module 4: Editing and Post Production
The edit – where all the storytelling magic comes together. How to make it short, snappy and engaging. We bring all your footage together and hit the edit. We’ll think about intros, effects, captions and more.
We’ll also start to get familiar with metadata – adding captions, how to edit your descriptions and using YouTube’s studio content manager.
Module 5: Driving Audience Growth and Data Analytics
Uploaded your video? Excellent, but there’s still a lot of work to do. In this module you will take a closer look at your channel’s analytics and audience. What are your audience watching habits? How to ensure they come back to your channel? How does the algorithm work? And finally, how to monetise from your videos?
We are looking for keen YouTubers or digital content creators who are looking to take their videos to the next level in terms of production quality and audience reach. We would like people who are passionate and eager to explore the vast career opportunities within content production.
You should have a good general education, but no other specific educational requirements. You must be 18 or over to apply for the course.
