Film Programming and Curation in Practice @BFI Stephen Street

Do you love films? Are you interested in bringing the world's best moving images to audiences? Would you like to hear about some of the ways in which you could use your passion to build a career?

Graduates of our MA Film Studies, Programming and Curation, run in partnership with the BFI, work in a wide range of roles in film festivals, online platforms, cinemas and distribution companies. This conversation between Film Programmer and Curator, Jade Turner, and NFTS course leader and festival consultant Sandra Hebron will explore the practicalities, pleasures and challenges of working in this dynamic cultural field.

Jade Turner is a film programmer and curator at the Independent Cinema Office. She has previously worked for Curzon, programming Curzon Home Cinema and Curzon cinemas, as well as Northampton Filmhouse, the Museum of the Home, Open City Documentary Festival and Film Africa. Jade has a Master's degree in Film Studies, Programming and Curation from the National Film and Television School, and a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies from King's College London.

Sandra has had a long career in independent cinema and festival management and curation in the UK, Europe and East Asia, including as BFI Head of Festivals (2003-2011).
