As part of International Production Design Week, we invite you to join Caroline Amies, Head of Production Design at the NFTS, in conversation with award-winning alumnus Luke Hull, whose credits include Andor and Chernobyl.
Luke Hull is a talented and versatile designer who has worked on a number of projects across film, television and commercials.
While studying at the National Film & Television School he worked on an impressive array of recognised short films including Stanley Pickle, which won the Best UK Short Award at the Raindance Festival, the LA Short Film Festival and the McLaren Award for Best New British Animation in 2010, and The Confession, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Film and won the Honorary Foreign Film award at the Student Academy Awards in 2011.
Luke began his career working in the art department with some of the industry’s finest Production Designers, including Gemma Jackson on King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, starring Jude Law (among many) and with Simon Bowles on Belle, starring Emily Watson and Tom Wilkinson.
Most recently Luke was the Production Designer for HETV series Andor (2022) and Chernobyl (2019) for which he won an Emmy. In this hour-long online lunchtime masterclass, Caroline will be exploring Luke’s relationship with world-building through design, and how he achieved this in both series.
