A FRESH TAKE
Our qualifications are changing!
We are excited to announce an innovative slate of new qualifications from 2025/2026! We are expanding our world-leading course portfolio, opening the door to even more opportunities for NFTS students.
Starting from September 2025, the NFTS will be offering a new two-year Master of Fine Art (MFA) and new one-year Master’s (MA).
These changes will open the door to even more opportunities, including enhanced qualifications, more funding and financial assistance and wider graduate employment opportunities on leaving the NFTS.

We're re-imagining our course structure to better reflect the ambition, creativity, and industry focus that define the NFTS. From 2026, our two-year MAs will evolve into MFA qualifications — recognising the depth, intensity, duration, and professional rigour at the heart of these programmes.
These are immersive, hands-on courses where you'll create original work, refine your craft, and develop a distinctive creative voice. The MFA marks the highest level of training in the field, preparing you not just to enter the industry, but to become a leader in it. Whether you're aiming for a key creative role or a teaching role in higher education, this qualification puts you on the path.
At the same time, we’re re-launching our highly regarded Postgraduate Diplomas as one-year MA degrees. This means you can now graduate with a Master’s degree from one of the world’s leading film schools — opening more doors, both creatively and professionally. These new qualifications give you access to greater funding opportunities, including the UK government’s Postgraduate Master’s Loan, and make international students eligible for the UK Graduate Visa, offering the chance to stay and work in the UK for at least two years after finishing the course.
These changes mean you won't just follow best practice – you'll understand the thinking behind it, bridging the gap between doing and knowing. For example, all one-year MA courses include a ‘Master’s Portfolio’ – an extended piece of work in which you’ll reflect critically on your professional development and creative practice, drawing on themes, interviews, and published work in your discipline. You’ll graduate ready to tackle complex challenges, bringing both sharp practical skills and strong conceptual insight to your work.
Applications are open to join the first MA cohorts in September 2025 and MFA/MA cohorts in January 2026. To ensure that these courses are accessible to all, there are no longer any application fees required to apply for NFTS courses.
