This four day course, delivered over two weekends, gives an in-depth understanding of the multi-faceted role of 2nd Assistant Director.
Participants will explore the practical and technical duties, tasks and responsibilities thoroughly, from early prep through to wrap.
The course will equip those looking to move up and new 2nd ADs with a clearer understanding of their work within the Film and HETV production process.
The training will also cover UK and international processes (SAG in particular) and will have an additional focus on the role of Crowd 2nd as well as resilience in the job and building a sustainable career.

There are no formal entry requirements although it is expected that you have some experience and understanding of working in film and TV, either in a junior role in the assistant directing department, as a new second assistant director, crowd second or transitioning from another department.
If you have no experience in film and TV, we recommend you undertake Hit the Ground Running with BECTU Vision first and/or our Set Ready: Working in the Assistant Directors Department course (dates in Spring 2024 to be announced).
