BAFTA TV and Craft Nominations 2023 - Check Out The NFTS Grads Involved
The National Film and Television School is thrilled to see a bumper crop of productions our talented graduates have worked on nominated for the BAFTA Television and BAFTA Television Craft Awards 2023! The awards are the biggest celebration of creative excellence across British and international television production and broadcasting and include the most talked about TV series of 2022.
Graduates named across the categories include Lewis Arnold for Sherwood in the Drama Series category and Jessica Jones for both Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story and The Tinder Swindler in the Original Music: Factual category. Derry Girls Director Michael Lennox was nominated in the Scripted Comedy category with fellow graduate Doug Bryson recognised for his achievements in the Editing: Factual category for Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. Director of stop motion animation The House Paloma Baeza and Dominic Savage, Writer, Director and Executive producer of I Am Ruth both received nods in the Single Drama category. In the Sound: Fiction category, Duncan Price and Martin Jensen were nominated for their work on Slow Horses and Adele Fletcher for House of the Dragon.
Other NFTS alumni whose boundless craft and creativity were integral to the shows nominated included Cinematography by NFTS graduate Stephan Pehrsson for the quirky and cool Wednesday with multiple graduates working on NHS drama This Is Going To Hurt including Cinematographer Nick Cooke, Sound Mixer Nina Rice and Prosthetics Supervisor Kate Walshe.
From The Crown to Bad Sisters, Am I Being Unreasonable? to The Real Mo Farah, there is hardly a show or category that doesn't feature a graduate of the School weaving their magic. The NFTS would like to give a huge shout out to all of our alumni working behind the scenes, from Composing to Directing, Sound Design to Cinematography, who helped bring these incredible BAFTA nominated productions to life with the skills they learnt from their training at the National Film and Television School!
Comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett will host the BAFTA TV Awards which will take place at the Royal Festival Hall on 14th May 2023. The BAFTA Television Craft Awards take place on Sunday 23 April. We look forward to cheering on all the nominees as they chase their dreams of receiving an iconic bronze BAFTA mask (or adding one to their collection!)
