National Film and Television School Welcomes Five New Members from Creative Industries to Board of Governors

The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is delighted to welcome five new members from across the creative industries to its Board of Governors. Bringing a wealth of experience and perspectives, the newly appointed board members will further strengthen the School’s leadership team as it continues to drive innovation and excellence in film, television and games training.

Welcoming our new board members

The new NFTS Board of Governors are:

  • Paloma Baeza | BAFTA award-winning filmmaker and NFTS alumna
  • Chris Bird | Managing Director of Prime Video UK
  • Cécile Frot-Coutaz | CEO of Sky Studios and Chief Content Officer for Sky
  • Paul Clark | Higher Education Consultant
  • Andy Harries| CEO and Co-Founder of Left Bank Pictures

Holding the most senior of positions within their respective professions, the incoming board members possess specific expertise in global content production, animation, directing and higher education and will play a pivotal role in guiding the NFTS through its next phase of growth and success.

As the School welcomes its new board members, it also extends gratitude to departing board members Oli Hyatt, Phil Edgar-Jones, Bal Samra, Mary Stiasny and Miranda Wayland who have each made significant contributions to the NFTS. Their dedication and leadership have been integral to the School’s achievements, and they leave a lasting legacy as the School moves forward.

Earlier this year, the NFTS secured £10 million in government investment to support its ambitious expansion plans. This includes adding 25,000 sq. ft. of cutting-edge teaching space at its Beaconsfield HQ, launching pioneering new courses in AI and Virtual Production, accelerating apprenticeship pathways, and enhancing provision for students with disabilities.

NFTS Chair Sophie Turner Laing said: "We are thrilled to welcome Paloma Baeza, Chris Bird, Cécile Frot-Coutaz, Paul Clark and Andy Harries to the National Film and Television School’s Board of Governors. Their combined expertise and passion for the industry will be instrumental in guiding the NFTS as we continue to build the future and inspire the next generation of film, television and games talent. I’d also like to thank our outgoing board members for their invaluable contributions and dedicated service to the NFTS."

The NFTS Board of Governors is comprised of senior industry figures from across the film, television, games and higher education landscape. The incoming board members will sit alongside BBC’s Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore, ITV Studios Managing Director Julian Bellamy, EA’s Chief Commercial Officer Scott Forrest and Polly Cochrane, former VP of Warner Bros. Discovery, among a raft of other high-profile members.
