New Scholarships Announced & Exclusive Industry Insiders Q&A with Award-Winning Sound Mixer Nina Rice
The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is excited to announce two new scholarships available for the Location Sound Recording for Film and Television MA starting in September 2025.
Each scholarship will cover 50% of home tuition fees, supporting talented individuals in pursuing world-class training in this vital and dynamic craft.
These scholarships come at an exciting time as the NFTS continues to invest in the future of the UK’s screen industries, offering students unparalleled access to industry leaders, hands-on experience, and cutting-edge facilities.

In addition to the new funding opportunities, the NFTS is this week hosting an exclusive online Industry Insiders Q&A, offering a unique window into the world of Location Sound and Production Sound Mixing.
Join NFTS alumni and award-winning Production Sound Mixer Nina Rice whose credits include Barbie, The Crown, Saltburn, and Persuasion as she shares her creative process, career journey, and advice for breaking into the industry.
Nina’s accolades include an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Sound on Barbie, a Royal Television Society award for her work on TV series This is Going to Hurt and she was nominated for Best Sound on Saltburn. Her acclaimed work also includes episodes of esteemed TV series The Crown and feature film Persuasion. Forthcoming films include Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly and Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
Nina will be in conversation with Fraser Barber, NFTS course leader for the Location Sound Recording for Film and Television MA. With over 20 years in the industry, Fraser has earned BAFTA nominations for Full Circle with Michael Palin, Taboo, and A Christmas Carol, and recently won the 2024 RTS Award for Best Sound for the 2023 adaptation of Great Expectations starring Olivia Colman.
