NFTS Graduates Go For Gold At The 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards

With the 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards fast approaching, The National Film & Television School would like to offer congratulations to all our alumni nominated in this year's categories.

Sir Roger Deakins received his eleventh BAFTA nomination for Best Cinematography, this time for his work on Sam Mendes’ Empire of Light, starring Olivia Colman and Micheal Ward. Roger also recently received a nomination for the 37th American Society of Cinematographers Awards and his 16th Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography on Empire of Light

Nominated in the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer category is NFTS Producing MA graduate Hélène Sifre for Georgia Oakley’s debut feature Blue Jean, with fellow graduate Marie-Elena Dyche also serving as Co-Producer on this gorgeously presented film.

Hélène recently returned to the NFTS to host an exclusive screening and Q&A of the already widely acclaimed Blue Jean, welcoming new students starting their own journeys at the NFTS.

Additional congratulations are in order for the over 60 National Film & Television School graduates who worked from Sound to VFX, Composing to Model Making on nominations across 17 BAFTA categories.

Three of the five films nominated for Best Film and seven of the ten nominated in the Outstanding British Film category involved the work of National Film & Television School alumni and many more had credits on films which received nominations in other categories.
