Led by acclaimed Scottish producer Chris Young (The Inbetweeners), the new cohort of 24 talented writers/directors, producers, cinematographers and editors began their journey in April 2025 in Leith, Edinburgh. Since then, they have been immersed in an intensive programme of development, mentorship and collaboration, building on their craft and preparing for their own debut films to be produced through the Lab in 2026.

Selected from over 200 applications, this year’s participants were chosen for their originality, drive and readiness to take the next leap in their creative journeys. The selection team sought out individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, from those who had already begun to establish themselves to filmmakers with a track record of promising work, for whom the Lab could be a transformative opportunity.

Chris Young, Head of the Sean Connery Talent Lab said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome our second cohort to the Sean Connery Talent Lab. This year’s group represents a bold mix of voices, experiences and creative ambition. In selecting the participants, we focused on those at a real tipping point in their careers, individuals for whom the Lab could offer a meaningful next step. From producers and editors to cinematographers and writer/directors, each person brings something unique to the table. Whether they’re emerging or more experienced, what unites them is a clear passion for fiction and a desire to push their work to the next level. It’s going to be an exciting year!”

On behalf of the Sean Connery Foundation, Stephane and Jason Connery added: “Our father believed fiercely in hard work, opportunity, and the power of education to change lives, values that lie at the heart of the Sean Connery Talent Lab. He would be immensely proud to see this group of talented, driven individuals building their craft, unlocking their creativity, and supporting one another as they take the next steps in their careers. The Lab reflects everything he cared about - championing Scottish talent, fostering excellence, and opening doors for the next generation.”
