Timings: 10am - 5pm

This Channel 4 funded course is delivered by NFTS Cymru Wales and is for those working in the independent sector in Wales and the South West.

The course will run over 5 days and will develop skills and confidence in editing factual content through practice and feedback. Please note this is not a technical course; participants will be honing their editorial and storytelling skills by editing and reviewing a range of factual content in a supported learning environment.

Tutor: Oliver Baker is an editor with over 25 years’ experience in the broadcast industry. Renowned for his creativity, focused storytelling and versatility, he has worked in a wide range of genres and styles, from food shows (Nigella, River Cottage) to ob-docs (Geordie Hospital, Help! We’re having a Baby) and high-end specialist factual shows (Drain the Oceans, The 1900 Island).

Who is it for? Edit assistants, junior editors, early career editors based in Wales or the South West. You must be familiar with Avid as the course will be taught using Media Composer but will not be focussing on the technical application of it. In 2023 the BBC3 documentary Blood, Sweat and Cheer that he edited was nominated for both a BAFTA Cymru and a Grierson.
