The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is thrilled to announce a grant partnership with the Broccoli Foundation to establish the Cubby Broccoli Scholarship

This scholarship will provide a life-changing opportunity for students from Italy’s Universita Della Calabria in Cosenza, a place closely connected to the Broccoli family. The students will attend the NFTS over the next decade, igniting their passion for filmmaking and supporting their journey towards a successful career in the industry.

The Cubby Broccoli Scholarship is named in honour of the legendary James Bond producer Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli.

The Broccoli Foundation was founded by Dana and Cubby Broccoli to support the arts, medicine and education.

As part of the Cubby Broccoli Scholarship, eligible students from Universita Della Calabria will receive full funding to study at the NFTS, ensuring that financial barriers don’t hinder their dreams of forging a successful career in film. In addition to covering tuition fees, the scholarship will also provide living expenses, allowing the recipients to fully immerse themselves in the vibrant, creative environment of the NFTS. The selected students will have the opportunity to apply for any of the School’s renowned two-year MA courses, further expanding their skills and knowledge under the guidance of industry experts.

The Cubby Broccoli Scholarship represents a powerful collaboration between the NFTS and the Broccoli Foundation, embodying a shared commitment to nurturing and empowering up and coming filmmakers. This partnership brings invaluable expertise and industry connections to this scholarship programme, opening doors to unparalleled opportunities for the recipients.

Jon Wardle, Director of the NFTS said: “The NFTS is proud to collaborate with the Broccoli Foundation to establish the Cubby Broccoli Scholarship. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to empowering emerging filmmakers and nurturing talent from diverse backgrounds. This scholarship will provide life-changing opportunities for Italian creatives passionate about film and further enrich the global film industry.”

Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli commented: "We are delighted to launch the Cubby Broccoli Scholarship with the NFTS and the Universita Della Calabria in Cosenza, Italy from where Cubby’s family originated. We look forward to welcoming the successful applicants and following their transformative journeys to becoming successful filmmakers".

The first recipient of the Cubby Broccoli Scholarship will be eligible to join the NFTS in January 2024.
