About the Summer Sessions
We are excited to announce the return of our popular Access NFTS Summer Sessions for 2026!
These FREE hands on sessions are open to young people aged 11–16 and will run throughout August at our Beaconsfield campus. Each week, participants can choose from at least four different 2 hour workshops, each exploring a unique career pathway in the Film, TV and Games industries.
Sound Design, The Invisible Storyteller
Ever felt the rumble of chairs in the cinema, or the tensions that swell in the silences? This workshop is a glimpse into what sound design really involves, and the building blocks that create a cinematic soundtrack. From the bubbling of ambiences to the of booming of impacts, delve into the invisible world of sonic storytelling and the undeniable power of sound.
Stage 1 Who's involved
Reveal the hidden roles that play a part to create and design the worlds we hear, what they do and how they do it. Take a look into the ways we play with noise and its endless possibilities.
Stage 2 The Big Mix
Bringing it all together, see what happens when we weave and layer each building block of a soundtrack through the magic of the mix.
Stage 3 Think Outside the Box
Your turn! Discover the creative potential that lies behind every random object, using the sounds of everyday items to recreate onscreen action and design audible worlds beyond the mic.
