Beatriz Borges is a Portuguese cinematographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She recently completed an MA in Cinematography at Screen Academy Scotland after studying Film and Communication in Portugal, including a semester abroad in Athens, Greece.
With a background across different areas of filmmaking before specialising in cinematography, her passion lies in creating spaces that hold feelings and images that quietly reflect human experience. Her work spans documentary, television and fiction short films.
Alongside her work as a Director of Photography, Beatriz has also worked within the camera department across multiple productions, strengthening her collaborative approach to filmmaking. Since graduating, she has continued developing projects in Scotland.
Inspired by the women in her family and by stories rooted in memory and identity, she is drawn to cinematography that feels natural and observant, allowing audiences to inhabit the emotional world of the characters without distraction. Through the Sean Connery Talent Lab, she is excited to collaborate with such a creative group of filmmakers while continuing to explore stories centred around human connection and intimate experiences.
