Iqbal Mohammed is a boundary-pushing writer and director whose work fuses social realism with cinematic poetry. Currently developing his debut feature, Bowling for Bradford, with BFI Network and Film Hub North, Iqbal crafts stories that hum with emotional truth and cultural nuance. His films have been screened at numerous BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals worldwide, capturing attention for their unflinching humanity and visual style.

His acclaimed short Tasbeeh, funded by the BFI Network, explores the quiet intensity of belonging and identity in modern Britain. Earlier work like Three Minute Warning — a harrowing portrayal of life under siege — resonated across continents, collecting top honours in three continents.

Iqbal’s writing has earned acclaim at the PAGE, and Austin Screenwriting Awards and his creative journey has been shaped by invitations to elite development labs, including the Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Lab and BAFTA Connect. In 2024, he was invited by ITV and Film Hub North to join a select team crafting storylines for Coronation Street.

Driven by a fascination with inner conflict and unseen worlds, Iqbal’s voice is one of quiet power — intimate, daring, and impossible to ignore.
