John Vinney is an experienced university Vice-Chancellor, executive leader and coach with more than 30 years of experience in UK higher education. Over fourteen years as a Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, he led a complex, mission-driven institution through periods of significant transformation, growth and cultural change. His leadership has spanned strategy, governance, academic development, organisational culture and partnership building, always with a focus on creating environments where people and ideas can thrive.
Alongside his leadership career, John is an accredited executive coach working with senior leaders across higher education, the NHS and other public-purpose sectors. His coaching practice is grounded in partnership, reflective thinking and clarity of purpose, supporting individuals as they navigate pivotal moments in their professional lives.
