Katie Mallinder is an accomplished filmmaker with a robust background in production and post-production. Graduating with first-class honours in film from Edinburgh Napier University in 2018, Katie embarked on her career as a PA and intern, progressing to significant roles in creative agencies. She has excelled as a freelance Producer and Editor, contributing to various corporate, marketing, and creative agency projects.
Katie's recent work includes serving as a VT Producer for BBC Scotland’s A View from the Terrace Series 5 & 6, where she travelled across Scotland to capture compelling stories from the Scottish football community. Her short film credits include Co-Producer for You Land (dir. Debora Bottino), funded by Short Circuit Sharp Shorts, and Producer for Wild Oats (dir. Rosa Duncan), funded by Grey Moth. Additionally, Katie edited The Last Day Residing in Flat 2/3 (dir. Kate Hammer) for the Edinburgh 48hr Film Festival.
Katie's goals include becoming a dependable and creative producer, fostering emerging talent, and promoting female representation in the industry. She is passionate about storytelling, both factual and fictional, and is thrilled to be part of the Sean Connery Talent Lab 24/25. Katie looks forward to building a network of filmmaker colleagues and friends and making a vibrant contribution to the Scottish short film landscape.
