Lara is a Glasgow-based writer/director whose work delights in a celebration and interrogation of the beautiful and the unsettling, working with film, TV, poetry, and theatre. She was selected as one of Glasgow Film Festival’s New Talent Mentees (2024/5) in support of her latest short film project, Sissy Puss, a sapphic apartment (folk) horror following Kat, an eccentric loner who is intimately stunned out of her bizarre routine by the ethereal Cat. She developed her performance writing with Scottish Youth Theatre & Playwright Studio Scotland as one of their TextLab (2022/3) cohort, and her plays, featuring embedded audio description, have been performed at PlayFull and Under The Rug. As a poet and arts journalist, her work has been published in METAL Magazine, SNACK Magazine, The Skinny, Heroica, and New Writing Scotland 42. In her TV roles, she has worked as Writers' Assistant on Outlander (S8) and Outlander: Blood of My Blood (S1). She’s currently in script development for several short film projects, all genre pieces, exploring varying levels of queerness and surrealism.
