Lu Kemp profile picture

Lu is training as an editor, informed by her work as a theatre and radio director for the past 20 years. Lu began her career at TAG Theatre Glasgow, as the Scottish Arts Council Trainee Director, moving into working in-house at the BBC for 5 years as a Radio Drama director and producer, and later leading Perth Theatre as Artistic Director for 7 years. As a freelancer she has created and directed work across the UK for the RSC, Almeida, Artangel, Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, and Citizens’ Glasgow amongst others. Her work has toured widely internationally.

Lu’s focus as director has always been new writing. Both as a director and dramaturg she has spent the larger part of her career developing scripts with writers and bringing their stories to life. Lu discovered editing through making three short documentary films for Creative Dundee in 2003, realising how beautifully the craft of editing compliments her love of script-development and visual storytelling. She is delighted to be given the opportunity to develop her craft as an editor and to work with the cohort of creatives on the SCFTLab.
