Reverie Cineclub: Fairytales from Around the World (Curator) - A film season that took place at Rio Cinema in November 2024 which featured a parent and child direct animation workshop, and three spellbinding World Cinema classics for family audiences: Vojtěch Jasný’s The Cassandra Cat, Lotte Reiniger’s The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and Aleksandr Ptushko’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan.
Searching for ‘Macario’ in the Cinematic Afterlife: The Preservation, Restoration, and Accessibility of Mexico’s Golden Age of Cinema (Dissertation) - Research entailed charting the restoration and exhibition life of Roberto Gavaldón’s 1960 film, and conducting interviews with Hugo Villa Smythe (Filmoteca UNAM), Viviana García-Besné (Permanencia Voluntaria), and Nora Mehenni (Indicator).
‘Not A Pretty Picture: Reenacting Trauma in Documentary Cinema’ (Video Essay) - This work examined the use (and misuse) of ethical practices and authorship over retelling a real life subject’s traumatic experiences through Martha Coolidge’s 1976 film in comparison to Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing and Robert Greene’s Kate Plays Christine.
Hear Me, Mother Ireland (Essay) - How Pat Murphy’s 1981 Film ‘Maeve’ Redefines The Filmic Language of Realism To Reclaim Women’s Narratives of The Troubles’.
Living Places, Passing Lives: An Intimate Journey into London’s Cityscape (Theoretical Film Season) - featuring contemporary psychogeographic British films on the act of commuting through London.
Daphne In The Circuits: Deconstructing Womanhood and the Body in Science-Fiction Cinema (Theoretical Film Season) - exploring the Greek myth of Daphne through feminist sci-fi and experimental films.
Paths Not Walked Alone: Retracing Stories of Love, Community, and Resistance in Contemporary Native American Life (Theoretical Film Season) - featuring contemporary documentary works by indigenous film-makers in response to ethnographic films and historical Westerns.
Internship at Sight and Sound Magazine: Conducted two sidebar interviews with film-maker Elene Naveriani and moving image artist Lydia Beilby, and contributed a feature on artist Frank McCarthy for the Mean Sheets column.
