Ruth Aitken profile picture

Ruth Aitken (she/her) is a Glasgow based producer. After studying film at Edinburgh Napier University, Ruth began her career in the production department of HETV and feature films. She has steadily worked up the production ladder in various production management roles across a number of projects, including Vigil S3, Mint, Borges & Me, The Bombing of Pan Am 103, Rebus & The Buccaneers S1. Prior to this, she also worked in-house at Edinburgh based production company Bonnie & Braw to develop content and produce commercials for clients.

Her graduation film, The House Of Culture, debuted in 2023, premiering at Glasgow Short Film Festival 2024, where she won the Young Scottish Filmmakers Prize. In 2024, Ruth was selected for and completed GMAC Little Pictures where she produced experimental documentary See And Don't See, which premiered at Alchemy FIlm Festival 2025.

Following this, she was selected for the NFTS x Sean Connery Talent Lab 25/6, in partnership with BBC Film, where she produced surreal drama Pang. Alongside this, she self funded a micro short, Little Wing, as part of a co-production with Subterranean Light, which was then supported by The National Lottery through Screen Scotland's Opening Shot - Final Checks film fund. In 2026, she is producing a documentary as part of the Scottish Documentary Institute's Bridging The Gap scheme, titled Love Letters To My Landlord.

In 2026, Ruth set up Scottish based production company Minor Crisis Productions. Minor Crisis' mission is to find unique and compelling stories with creative flair that attract global audience & talent, focussing on showcasing unheard voices and diverse talent above and below the line. The company has several exciting projects currently in development.
