Twenty Twenty (Producer)
Biography
Saffia began her career in Scripted development and production with a focus on High-End Drama Series for the domestic and international markets, before expanding to work across both the big and small screens.
Her credits to date have collectively garnered awards and nominations including RTS UK Best Single Drama, RTS Scotland Best Writer, BAFTA Scotland Best Scripted Television Programme, and an International Emmy. These credits span Assistant Producer, Script Executive, and Script Editor roles on projects such as Richard Gadd’s Half Man (HBO/BBC), George Jaques’s Sunny Dancer (27 Ten), David Macpherson’s The Rig (Amazon), Rob Williams’s Screw(Channel 4), and Andrea Gibb’s adaptation of Elizabeth is Missing (BBC One). She is currently Peter Morgan’s Script Executive on his forthcoming adaptation of The Boys From Brazil for Netflix, alongside supporting the development of numerous feature films for the BFI and Screen Scotland in her capacity as a Development Producer and Script Editor.
As an emerging independent Producer, Saffia’s slate is comprised of series and feature projects with both new and established UK-based writing/directing talent. She is particularly drawn to stories exploring power and relationship dynamics, queerness, and contemporary social and political issues through a character-led, entertainment-first lens.
Saffia is a graduate of Short Circuit’s Producer Accelerator incubator and a Le Groupe Ouest Less is More feature film Development Angel. She was delighted to be one of seven Producers selected for the National Film and Television School’s inaugural Sean Connery Talent Lab cohort, through which she produced Alex A. Salam’s moving and subversive short film Twenty Twenty.
She is represented by Paul Stevens at Independent Talent.
