Saffia began her career in-house at leading Scottish indie STV Studios, where she spent five years developing and making HETV Drama series for the domestic and international markets. In 2023, she moved the world of freelance producing, development producing, and script editing. Her credits span Script Editor and Assistant Producer roles on dramas including Screw (Channel 4), Elizabeth is Missing (BBC One) and The Rig (Amazon). These credits have collectively gathered awards and nominations including RTS Scotland Best Writer, BAFTA Scotland Best Scripted Television Programme, RTS UK Best Single Drama, and an International Emmy.
Saffia is a graduate of Short Circuit’s Producer Accelerator incubator, and she is one of European development programme LiM (Less is More)’s Development Angels for 2024. She is currently developing a slate of film & TV projects with both emerging and established writing/directing talent. Saffia is particularly drawn to stories exploring power and relationship dynamics, queerness, and contemporary social and political issues through a character-led, entertainment-first lens.
Saffia is delighted to be producing writer-director Alex Salam’s moving and subversive short film, Twenty Twenty, through the Talent Lab.
