KitWorks Placement Programme
The KitWorks Placement Programme is supported by Screen Scotland, and is delivered by NFTS Scotland in partnership with MBS Equipment, Media Dog Hire, Progressive Broadcast Hire, and QTV.
Kit hire in Scotland
In the world of television and film, the production equipment used in studios and on location is nearly always hired from specialist kit hire companies. These companies offer a vast array of camera, lighting and audio equipment along with outside broadcast facilities. In Scotland, kit hire is a vital link in ensuring that local and visiting producers making any kind of content can use the most up to date and highest quality equipment in their productions from local suppliers.
This new KitWorks Placement Programme is being hosted by four of Scotland’s biggest suppliers to the film and TV industry:
What the placement involves
The KitWorks Placement Programme will deliver a paid, one year training opportunity for four participants and will be based in Glasgow. It will be hosted by four of Scotland’s leading kit suppliers and aims to address skills shortages and importantly widen access to under-represented groups in the TV and film industry here in Scotland. It aims to create a sustainable and repeatable talent pipeline through structured placements and training.
Successful trainees will be contracted for 35 hours a week, paid at the Real Living Wage (£13.45 an hour). As our host kit hire companies’ workloads are driven by industry demands, these hours will be aggregated - meaning your hours may vary slightly from week to week, but will average out to 35 hours a week across the year.
Who should apply
This scheme is open to anyone aged 18 and over who has not previously worked in film or television.
