16 Years of Excellence! NFTS Retains Place Among The Hollywood Reporter’s Best International Film Schools

The National Film and Television School has once again been named among The Hollywood Reporter’s prestigious annual list of the world’s best 16 international film schools, extending our remarkable run to 16 consecutive years!  The recognition reflects the School’s global reputation for excellence, close ties with industry and continued investment in preparing the next generation of behind the camera talent for a screen sector that is rapidly evolving. 

In its recently published 2026 edition, The Hollywood Reporter spotlighted the School’s successes that are helping shape the future of the screen industries.

"The NFTS has been best in class in translating education into industry jobs. The institution runs more behind-the-camera courses than any other film school in the world giving students a chance to get hands-on experience across multiple disciplines."

The NFTS and the Australian Film Television and Radio School have been consistently ranked by The Hollywood Reporter over the past 16 years. Other international schools featured in this year's list include Vancouver Film School and the Korean Academy of Film Arts.
 

This latest accolade arrives during a transformational period for the NFTS. Over the last year, the School began a long awaited major expansion of its main campus in Beaconsfield. Due to open in 2027, The Cubby Broccoli Building will feature purpose built accessible accommodation for students with physical access requirements for the first time in the School’s history. The last 12 months saw the NFTS launch pioneering new courses in areas including Costume Design, Hair and Makeup and Creative Technologies and strengthen partnerships with leading industry organisations including Disney, Amazon MGM Studios, Netflix, John Gore Studios and YouTube. It also celebrated another exceptional year of student and alumni success across the world’s biggest festivals and awards including the Cannes Film Festival and Student Academy Awards.
