Five British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) Wins For National Film And Television School Alumni!

The British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) has announced the winners of its 27th edition, with National Film and Television School (NFTS) graduates securing an impressive five awards!

Writer/director Sandhya Suri took home the win for Best Screenplay for her Cannes-nominated directorial debut Santosh. Producer James Bowsher, fellow NFTS alumni and Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2024, was awarded Breakthrough Producer for his work on the nail biting true-crime drama.

Producer Chiara Ventura’s Witches won Best Feature Documentary and darkly moving stop-motion short Wander To Wonder, by writer/director Nina Gantz and writer Simon Cartwright took home the award for Best British Short.

Back in November, the BIFA revealed the winners of the 10 craft categories, naming David Simpson for Best Effects for Alex Garland’s Civil War.
