Interviewing for Documentary and Factual Filmmakers

Content Tabs

Insightful interviewing is an essential component of factual programme making. It’s a skill that can be learnt and honed and this course is designed to equip with you the technical, creative, and interpersonal skills needed to obtain high-quality interviews.

From actuality interviews to formal sit-downs, we will spend two days developing your interviewing skills and experimenting with different techniques and approaches through a series of discussions and practical exercises. It’s aimed at anyone who conducts interviews for factual programmes – from researchers to PD’s and Series Producers – whether you’re starting out or a seasoned programme maker.

The course will run in a small group setting with a maximum of 8 participants. Part of the course will involve the use of state-of-the-art broadcast equipment but it’s not essential to have prior skills in operating this equipment.
